The Mighty 'Mox is an outstanding new book chronicling the entire history of KMOX. Conveniently arranged by host name, it is an indispensible guide for even the casual KMOX fan. While it contains stories from recent days, anyone who has listened to KMOX for more than 20 years will see their life flashing before their eyes as they read the accounts of the newsmen and personalities who informed them or delighted them down through the years. Readers will also get a glimpse of an organizational structure under Bob Hyland that scarcely exists anywhere in the business world today: one where a benevolent dictator steers a ship - and everyone on it - to greatness and to mild - though not lavish - prosperity. The picture of KMOX under Hyland is clear: you gave your loyalty, you were told up front what role you had to play, you worked hard in that role, you were always told the truth and you were eventually rewarded. Compared to today's businesses which make a great show of supporting big-name charities but are quick to axe their own employees' benefits, it was refreshing to see Hyland taking care of some KMOXers' massive hospital bills without blinking an eye. I am quoted throughout the book commenting on other personalities, but to read my own listing in the book, click below. To buy The Mighty 'Mox, call 800-480-3717. |
